HOBA METEORITE &
WATERBERG
The Hoba meteorite,
another wonder of Namibia - the largest, intact celestial stone
found
to date. Waterberg boasts Flora found nowhere else on earth.

Sometimes omitted in
favour of the "big names", both Hoba meteorite
and
Waterberg Plateau Park are wonders in their own right. Both lay claim to
being exclusive, either as an entity, or for something within.
In the case of the Hoba
meteorite, this exclusivity is obvious due to it being the largest, intact
meteorite found on earth to date. With the Waterberg Plateau Park, it is a
little more subtle &
not considered public knowledge.
What can be considered
as general knowledge, is the fact that the Waterberg Plateau Park
was proclaimed a sanctuary for the protection of endangered wildlife, in
particular certain
antelope- & vulture species. What is less known, is also quite inexplicable.
The majority of
plant species found on the slopes of the Waterberg, are found nowhere else in
Namibia - or
in the world! Localized endemics to the extreme.
The photographs on this
page are not intended as a field guide, therefore specific plants will not
be illustrated. These photographs are particularly relevant to those safaris in the Seven
Wonders
of Namibia collection,
that have either the Hoba meteorite or Waterberg included in itineraries.
